Everything is politics, an old newspaper publisher once told me, before he expounded on workplace efficiencies, light bulbs and the Red Sox. That sounds like the case, at least to some insiders, in the U.S. Postal Service announcement yesterday that it will close its New Hampshire district office, which also covers Vermont, and move it to Portland, Maine. Here's a terrific story on it (ok, so it's mine). The Postal Service is modernizing, struggling through budget trouble and a drop in mail volume.
