Tucked away in the middle of this Politico story on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin considering a possible White House run, she touts the value of retail politics, the kind of face-to-face campaigning the New Hampshire Presidential Primary is known for. Quoth the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate:
"Certainly nothing is more effective than being there with the people in the diners, shaking hands."
One thing your can count on. She won't dare enter a debate. Palin doesn't do thinking fast on your feet with a strong command of facts. You betcha, gosh darnit.

Gee, I seem to recall she destroyed Joe Biden in the vice-presidential debates back in 2008.
Are you sure you're not thinking about Barack Obama? He certainly doesn't do well unless he has a teleprompter.

I think anyone who underestimates Sarah Palin does so at their own risk. I remember many, many New Hampshire Democrats discounting Bob Smith. But time and time again as he ran for Congress, then reelection, and then U.S. Senate, he proved his ability to relate with voters.
Sarah Palin has the unique ability to talk "with" people instead of "to" or "at" them. That's a tough thing to do when you're standing behind a podium with your face partially covered by a microphone. Most politicians can't do it well. She can.
